If we protect our skin from the sun, we've gotta do it for our hair too . It's always been our habit (or should I say, It's a must) that we put conditioner on our hair before diving into the pool or the beach. It will not only lessen the damage from chlorine and seawater but also makes our hair easier to comb after the abuse. Sadly that's just what it do, prevent too much tangle. But it doesn't actually protect our hair from the sun hence, our hair is left coarse , and become freezy days after.

That's the advantage of this product. Not only it keeps our hair moisturized and soft, it actually protects hair from the sun (and chlorine).

I've used this last year and had proven its efficacy. I've digipermed and colored my hair so its really susceptible to damage. Amazingly, my hair was in perfect condition even after several swimming trips. It was never dry, didn't lost luster nor had i seen split ends. Another plus point for this is that, usage is not restricted on pools or beach. For days that I'll be basked in the sun like going to theme park, picnic or out of towns, I also spray this in my hair since my hair loses luster and gets dry if fried under the sun.

The finish depends of course on how much you put on your hair. for swimming purposes i definitely go gaga on spraying this focusing more on the ends and don't forget the scalp. It gives me the wet look, beach hair effect. For non-water activities, I just spray enough to cover the top part and spray on the inner part too. Sure It'll weigh down hair and give oily look on hair, but hey, I'd be putting it on low pony do anyweys, I dont think I'll ride the roller coaster nor would go on windy out of town spot with my hair all down. Did that once and I looked like I haven't combed for years. Or maybe I'm just not blessed with "balik ayos" hair.

Be warned though, that after shampooing, hair sometimes is still oily. Naturally, it's an oil and really requires shampooing twice to get rid of the goo. I don't shampoo my hair twice in one shower session, its too harsh for hair. I't wont hurt to sport that extra sheen on hair anyweys.

Another must have for summer season.

I just came back from our outing and I just cant wait to rave about this baby!.

VERDICT:

True to claim, its got watery texture that spreads nicely and thinly and get absorbed right away. It is by far the most lightweight and non-greasy sunblock I've tried! It didn't sting my face or gave me red patches and rashes like what I used to get from high SPFs. Love the fact too that it lends a clear and refresh look as oppose to other sunblock that lends me dewy finish but darkens on my face coz I'm acidic that i need to top it off with powder to control shine and achieve a refreshed look. With sunplay, I didn't have to mattify it with powder.

Also the size of the tube was deceiving. When I bought this, I thought to myself, its small and will be good for few applications only, which is good coz I really dont finish up a whole tube for the whole summer. Since the consistency is thin and watery, it covers more skin area hence we tend to use less. That way its economical and I should say, a true value for money.

Now the Con's of course there's no perfect product, nor is there any one-product-fits-all kinda' thing. While it tamed the shine on my face, It's a little drying on my skin. Sure it spreads easily and gets absorbed and feels smooth, but as I leave it longer, I feel my skin tightening, Yup, its drying my skin (Well, coz I've bad case of dry skin dilemma). As for others this might not arise as an issue. Second, it didn't state on the packaging if its safe for use around eye area especially that its got a super high SPF. Well, if its drying for my body, then maybe its gonna be drying for my eye area too. I just used my trusted clinique sunblock for my peepers anyweys.

My only mistake perhaps is that I didn't wait for it to settle on my skin. We've always been informed that we need to wait for 30 minutes to stabilized it before basking in the sun. Since the direction on the packaging was silent about it, It slipped my mind As I usually use Nivea immediate protection, just minutes after applying it, I jumped into the pool, and there, I see my sunblock running down my skin, and the worst, it stung my eyes big time!

Well, over all I didn't see my color changed. (think) my skin didn't darkened much. Most of all it's one sunblock you can for long sun exposure related activities. Its light, wont clog pores and most of all, I didn't smell like screaming SUNBLOCK!. Got t idea? Scent is faint, you wont even notice its got one.

So that's it,. one summer adventure down, and there's more cookin'.

Mini Lush Haul

Lush is one product I've tried many years ago, even before I started blogging. Just like everybody else what caught my attention to the store is the scent that you get to sniff even if your 1 to 2 stores away from Lush store itself.

Although the stray kikay blogger me must venture to other (cheaper) products, so I tried other organic products like Bynature handmade soap, Venus and Mars, Human Heart and nature, etc. . Now that reminds me of my lots of pending review. Geesh, too bad I wasn't able to recover anymore the lost files in my previous PC.

Just read this in the forum.. i was shocked! My eyes got teary, perhaps coz it scared the hell out of me,. I seldom ride jeepneys, but still I DO! Specially on short rides only,. And I always prefer the half empty ones as opposed to full pack-only-one-butt-cheek-can-sit.

Celeteque Advanced Anti-wrinkle Light Cleansing Oil

When I first saw this on the magazine, I was like ‘Sswweeettt’… I know celeteque comes on cheap price tag. So I’m sure this is under a thousand bucks only. I was thinking, this could be a cheaper version of Shu Uemura cleansing Oil.

So when I saw it at the mall I immediately grabbed one.

VERDICT:

So the instruction was just to massage it on face or use it using cotton pad and rinse. So I did. I slathered it on my face, massaged it to lift grime and dirt, then rinsed my face, I was shocked, it didn’t turn to milky substance. It felt like it didn’t got rinsed off. So I immediately grabbed a tissue paper to remove excess oil before finally soaping my face.

I thought to myself, this can be used for Oil cleansing method.

Nevertheless, I still soaped my face and put on my moisturizer. Amazingly in the morning, at work, my skin is dewy. I love the glow it gives. My skin usually turns oily and looks stressed at the end of the day, but using this, my skin just glow and is dewy. Not my imagination coz my officemate noticed it too.

I tried using it, the-Oil cleansing method-way sans the steaming part. I just massage it on my face, wipe with tissue paper. Put a tiny drop of oil in my palm that’s ran on faucet (to dilute the oil), then pat on my face and leave it overnight. The oily feel don’t freak me out since I used to put Emu oil as night moisturizer before. But the OC in me, shrieks the idea that I had not washed my face. Well, it gave the same result anyway.

I think this is one promising product. Not overhyped and most importantly, minus the high price tag.

As for the anti-wrinkle effect, I think oil alone wont do it. You would need to slather on your anti-ageing moisturizer by the morning. But it does make skin soft, moisturized and dewy.

So what exactly is the “REAL” Oil cleansing method?

The Oil Cleansing Method

Oil dissolves oil. Do not be afraid of applying oil to your face. Oil, alone, will not bring you blemishes. Pimples, cysts, zits, blackheads, whiteheads...these are a result of several different factors including hormones, bacteria, dead skin cells and the buildup of these factors. Your skin naturally produces oil because it needs it. Not only does your natural oil help lubricate, it also heals, protects, and moisturizes your skin so that it may function properly. Properly functioning skin is beautiful, clear, and glowing.

We will need two oils. The first, and most importantly, is Castor Oil. Castor Oil has potent anti-inflammatory properties, but is also healing and cleansing. "Castor oil will leave the body in better condition than it found it." A little bit of Castor Oil goes a long way and too much will leave you, surprisingly, with dry skin.

Since Castor Oil is so thick and its cleansing properties so strong, we need to dilute it with another oil, thinner in consistency, like Extra Virgin Oil or Sunflower. Both are wonderfully caring oils for skin application, but I've found that Sunflower Seed Oil has a more luxurious feel for massage. It sinks into the skin better, aiding the castor oil in transportation deep into the pores and allowing it to draw the dirt and grime to the surface of your skin. The essential fatty acids help restore the skins natural moisture balance and help prevent unnecessary dryness. The secondary oil that you choose is entirely up to you and should be determined by your skins needs and the properties of that oil.

Your Personal Oil Blend

The starting point for creating your own, personalized skin cleansing oil blend is knowing your general skin type. Those with dry skin will want less Castor Oil. Those with oily skin will want to blend in more. Finding your perfect combination of oils will probably take a little bit of trial and error, so start with very small batches. Once you know what your ratio of oils looks like, you'll be able to blend much more at a time for convenience.

Some suggestions in creating your blend of deep cleansing oil:

§ Oily Skin: Try a blend of 30% Castor Oil to 70% Sunflower Seed Oil.

§ Balanced Skin: Try a blend of 20% Castor Oil to 80% Sunflower Seed Oil.

§ Dry Skin: Try a blend of 10% Castor Oil to 90% Sunflower Seed Oil.

The Oil Cleansing Method

This is typically done in the evening, prior to bed. There should be no need for deep cleansing in the morning if you're waking up with skin cleansed the night before. In the morning, a quick wipe with a warm washcloth should suffice. We don't want to overcleanse our skin as this will serve only to irritate and cause more oil production. The objective of using this method is to deep clean while balancing our skins oil production at the same time.

§ You'll need a soft washcloth, your oil blend, and hot, running water.

§ Pour a generous puddle of oil into the palm of your hand. Roughly, the size of a quarter, but more is acceptable. Rub your hands together to warm the oil and smooth over your face.

§ Begin massaging the oil into your face. Massage the oil deeply into your pores. This will remove makeup, dirt, and other impurities, so there is no need to use a makeup remover or wash your face prior to the massage. This removes even stubborn waterproof mascara and concealer.

§ Once you're satisfied that your pores are saturated, pick up your washcloth and soak it in clean, steamy water. We want the water to be warm enough to open your pores and remove the oil. Cool water will not open your pores, nor will it remove the oil efficiently. We're not scalding our skin, we're steaming to coax our pores to release the oil carrying the impurities.

§ Hold the washcloth to cover your face. Allow it to stay until it cools. Wipe the oil gently away and rinse the washcloth well in hot, running water. Repeat three or four more times. Avoid any temptation to scrub, as you'll find your skin will be soft, smooth, and free of flakes without the additional manual exfoliation.

§ Have no fear of the oil, as the steamy washcloth will remove it. The Castor Oil, though it is an oil, will help with the removal of the other oils, as well. It is our main cleansing oil and is easily removed with warm water.

§ If your skin feels tight, take a tiny drop of your oil blend, rub it between your clean, damp palms and pat it onto your damp skin. Gently massage any oil residue into your skin so there is no film of oil left sitting on the surface. Your skin should now glow!

§ This deep cleansing method should be done regularly, but not too frequently. You'll know if you're deep cleansing too frequently by the dryness that your skin will exhibit. Don't be surprised if you find you've unblocked an oil flow for the first few days. Once you remove the plugs from your pores, they will begin functioning properly again. Perfect skin won't happen overnight and while it should take a few massages to achieve your goal, you should notice a huge difference in your skin after the first deep cleansing massage. Give your skin a few days to adjust and adapt to being clean and clear of blockages; understand that the new oil coming from your skin is actually a good sign and will balance out very shortly. You'll find redness and irritation subsiding. You'll find your skin losing that "congested," and thick feeling.

I've been a bag addict since I was in Highschool. I remember back then, that the last day of our classes turns to an "Arbor Day." It's when everyone gets to barter their stuff for other's. I usually "Arbor" (ask for) BAGS!.. And in return I give away BAGS too that, i dont wanna use anymore.

Coach PVC shoulder bag..

Very feminine yet functional. Same size as with speedy30 only it has 3 dimensional compartment for hanky or tissue paper perhaps, so you wont have to open your bag all the time to get your essentials..

Coach Horse and carriage tote bag,..

It's a coated fabric. At first I was a little careful in totting this bag coz in my mind its a fabric, so it easily stain. Well, one day, while carrying this baby on my shoulder, the rain fell abruptly. To my surprise I see the water droplets formed beads on the surface. It didn't got absorbed by the fabric. I just wipe it off and my bag stayed perfectly dry. So I read the carecard and it did say that it was treated to be water and dirt repellant.

I think its same material as with the LV ebene, remember LV-lovers say that ebene is not leather but a synthetic one hence its called rubberized. Its such a low maintenance bag, it can be drenched on rain, place it anywhere, without worrying bout dirtmarks. Just wipe-off the surface to clean it before storing.

What draws me to coach is the quality of the leather they use, its fine and soft to touch. Trimmings are neat too. Indeed a very quality bag for a fraction of a cost - well compared to LV, Balenciaga or **Hermes**...

First post for 2011!..

I’ve been receiving messages asking why I’ve been MIA for the longest time. Well I just don’t feel like doing it. I wanted to take a break from blogging though I’ve a lot of pending reviews. Plus uploading pics in blogspot sucks! i'll have to wait long for picture uploads. I abhor waiting (friends knows that.. tehee..), so I ended up deleting the post,.

Till lately, my willingness to write and share my thoughts was revived. Although, my blog is gonna take a new spin. Now my blog will be riding with me as I venture a more challenging life,. What am I talkin’?

I’m engaged!..

My blog will now not confide with beauty junks only but will become sort of a journal of my joys and pain and of course my long preparation for the BIG day. Sure will still blog bout beauty things, its just, I felt my blog now has got some depth.

At first I wanted to make a separate web for our wedding story just like the ones I’m seeing nowadays with other couples, but heck, I’d still pay programmers for the site wherein I can freely write it in my blog, The beauty of it is that I can even post the preparation detail like the options we had for suppliers, what made us chose them and of course the (dreaded) Rating! Kidding!.. But yah I will, it’s just I’d be nicer not to bash them like what I do when I hate a beauty product I’ve purchased. Unless things turn really sour .. hopefully not,.. hehe..

Me and Fiancé (gotta get used to that word, huh!).. are just happy that we finally decided to plan for our future together. We are both thrilled by the thoughts that soon we will be husband and wife. We just can’t wait for 2012. But there’s one challenge!.. Originally I wanted to give it my all since its gonna be a once in a lifetime event, and that bcoz I’m the only girl in the family. But we instead decided to go on a budget since we will be needing to save more for our future family. Expenses will be shouldered by me and fiancé only [donations are welcome though ;-) ]. That’s the challenge, to trim expenses, despite the really big clan we have!,..

So there, exciting indeed, makes me anxious at the same time..

Braces,.. again!

I'm sporting braces again! I had it on when I was in college. Had it removed right after graduation. My teeth were aligned already. Till Y2006 my wisdom tooth started to come out little by little, pushing my teeth on both side to slide forward. It overlapped my front teeth and started to push it inward. Gets? hehe, here's my teeth would look like on pics..

Camwhoring before sleep

Well, each day I feel my teeth is moving, it's getting worse, I know the feeling already of the teeth moving coz of my braces before. I was hesitant at first and wanted to back-out but i made a down payment already during my consultation. It reminded me of my experience before. I always have mouth sores due to allergy on the metal of the braces. So I always put wax as barrier. Brushing teeth is tedious than the usual. It was painfull, sometimes rubber is attached connecting the lower brace to upper brace so it restricts mouth opening. Rubber on braces often snaps-off, brackets detached from the tooth enamel, in short it was agony. I never understand why some (majority of) people find braces as sosyal (high-class). I hated it, i just got used to it. Pictures sometimes are ugly too, its like my teeth were dark.

Anyweys, I have to or else my teeth will get worse,. My allergies tamed down, some are gone already. I've worst case allergy even when I was a child. To name a few: Dust, metals other than gold, and chlorine in our tap water! Yes, every after bath I have red patches all aver my face and body. It was hella itchy. I've used emollient soaps (like dove and caress) and mild soaps (like J&J and Ivory) but I'm still all red. But now I can wear silver and fashion earrings (and Im chlorine tolerant as well) so hopefully i wont get allergic reaction on my braces anymore.

So here's me camwhoring the moment I got home. Need to practice my smile too for a nice angle. Make-up needs modification too. It made my already pouty lips look bigger so no lipgloss for me from now on.

The hostage drama that recently happened to our dear country was really heart breaking,.

I cant help but react too on some comments I've been reading on polls and Facebook,. So I just wanna repost my Facebook shoutout,...

Quite a many people are calling "Where's PNOY on this hostage drama, why didn't he stand at Luneta to make negotiation end",. C'mon it's not a president's job to negotiate with this crazy person,. Comparable to chess board game, ang KING ay hindi ipinapain sa Pawns,.

Many people are also condoning the PNPs on how crappy they handled the situation. At the end of it all I still commend them for not thinking the same way as some commentators think,. Open fire and throw teargas to end the hostage taker's drama. Had they done that no one would have survived.

Wala daw kwenta ang SWAT natin, kulang sa training,. blame that on the previous administration. Puro corruption ang ipinamanang value sa lahat ng sangay ng ating pamahalaan. I cannot blame them. I pity them instead, I hope our soldiers and policemen get the right training they need and deserve to hopefully allow them to serve our country better. As PNOY said, lets do everything PARA SA PAGBABAGO. I did not vote for him last election, but since he's there already, I give him my support and pray that he will really lead our country the better way...

I still have high hopes for our country. Kaya kung sama-sama..

Shopaholic strikes back!

The second quarter of the year is about to end. I will end it again with big smile on my face after all my birthday month is in this quarter. Here's my major haul, that I will claim my gifts for my birthday...

Im not a shoe person, whether their cheap or ubber expensive, I buy them so long as I like them. That's one reason too why I dont post shoe hauls (as well as dresses). This one caught my attention. I find them really nice, that is worth sharing. From the Trunk show..

Louis Vuitton Neverfull Azur.. I've sleepless nights coz of this (I've nice problems huh!). My mind was in chaos thinking which one to get, the ebene or the azur. Azur won coz I have speedy in ebene already, but i still swear to get the ebene, next year perhaps!

Coach suddenly struck me, same as with Juicy Couture. But I decided to get coach first. This is a nice top handle bag that can be converted to hobo...

I know I gave up my lemmings for Liz claiborne and nine west bags, but this one sure did caught yet again my attention.. a hand held bag that can be carried as shoulder bag too

Amazingly Liz Claiborne's style has evolved from black basic/classic office essential bags, which shouts boring to some, to a colorful more stylish designs that can now cater the young hippie genre.

Another bag that gave me headache... a Longchamp, I dont like the basic solid colors, I went for this design.. A little expensive than the plain ones but is totally worth it. I find it stunning in person,..

The skinfood... got two make-up remover, one toner and one face serum,, review to follow..

Hopefully this closes my 2nd quarter haul,. Though Im eyeing one in Fino,.. sobb...

We all have trying times, but looking at all these blessings, that I can afford a little luxury make my life better.. Look at the brighter side after all!..

Prepping Curly Locks

As I've mentioned in my previous entry, curly locks needs extra prepping. So here's what I use to keep my curls intact, soft and bouncy.

First, I changed my shampoo and conditioner to Sunsilk Style curls and wave bounce.

CLAIM:
With beeswax and curl energizers to giv permed hair a well defined and bouncy curls and waves.

VERDICT:

A little hard to find on stores, always out of stock. Nweys, these smells sweet, and makes hair soft. I tried these sans other styling products, the result is big curls like those of beach babes.

LOREAL TEXTURE EXPERT BOUNCE WHIP

CLAIM:
A bodifying aqua-mousse. Gives root-lift, volume while keeping it light. With Incell and pearl proteins to repair and reinforce sensitized hair fibers while Vitamin E acetate protects hair.

VERDICT:
Really good in holding small curls. Hair feels light but a little stiff, no wet look here. gives natural finish on hair.

I choose this coz my hair is colored as well, I put this prior the mousse to lend a healthy radiance to my hair. I use a lot to achieve wet look, less puffy and small super tight curls. True to claim it does prevent hair from static and freeze. I think this is necessary coz I tried using mousse alone, the result - curls intact, freezy big hair - that's only good for casual days like, mall, beach etc. but for office, I need to tame down the volume.

So there its 2 additional routine as compared to my wash and wear straight hair, but its all worth it.

Everyday is like different curl style,. depends on how i scrunch and twist it, or whether I comb my hair or not.

What I love with curl do, is that i dont have to comb my hair the entire day. My friends knows me well for not combing my hair throughout the day, so this complements me. Special care is needed for curl do, it may be wash and wear, but prepping time takes longer, I think I'll make a separate post about that. Hair tends to freeze so anti-freeze serum is a must,. But over all I love it! shorter hair indeed, but is suits the hot weather nowadays..

VERDICT:

I love the smell! so milky addicting. Absorbs in the skin fast. Really non- greasy. It is however not enough for my ubber dry skin. Still gets white patches and flakes. This is great for people with normal skin. Great for summer i dont feel sticky. What i do is put body oil first then slather this on. This makes me smell so yummy. Smell lasts longer than my usual lotions. Im addicted!

Better in terms of moisturizing, without the greasy feel. Though still not enough for me, layering it with oil again will do the trick. Again the smell is heaven! Can't choose which scent i like better

100% NATURAL BUTTERMILK AND BATH

CLAIM:

VERDICT:

Used this everyday when I was on almost a month of vacation from office.

It feels like mild scrubbing for me. Melts on skin though i didn't gt the creamy texture but rather a fine grainy feel, similar of that with cornstarch. Milky smell is addicting as usual. I dont have honey so wasn't able to try pair it with this. Stings my face the first time I used it, but didn't felt anything on the third or fourth time using it. Skin feels smooth and so clean. The scent got washed off though. But left my bathroom smelling milky sweet.

Mild enough to use everyday. As to whitening, I didn't noticed any dramatic result, just brightens skin. I think this works gradually, and so I need a few tubs more. But this makes bathing a wonderful experience, sad to say now that I'm back at work i dont have the luxury of bathing time, always am in a hurry. I will miss this baby,.

Tough scrubbing indeed, the way a salt scrub should be without the salty aroma but rather a sweet fruity scent. Its moisturizing, leaves skin a thin oily film while skin is wet this might freak out those who are not used with oils or heavy lotions but when airdried, the oil gets absorbs just like body oils. You'll find absolutely no streak of oil in skin. Again this is for gradual whitening no instant result here. The only thing I dislike here is the pink coloring that is left on skin. I end up with pink spots/dots all over. I gives pinkish blush to skin too so this is great for pale people.

Overall my Vanilla & co experience was great, I'd love to try other products once Im done with my hauls with other brand,.

Ladies, haven't been updating my site this 2010, see the PC where I store all the pics for blogg review is usually down,. Im lazy to repeat their photoshoot. Anyweys, this past weeks was crazy busy too. Finalizing our bazaar which by the way didn't turn quit nice. See there's this one person who reserved 4 boots for her to rent. On the day of the ingress she kept texting that her SAs are on their wat and that they were stuck in traffic. Then, a no show! We suspect one person who did it. By her wordings on text, etc., anyweys, Karma to the bitch! Seriously, what she did was so bad! We mean business here and we dont mess with others.. Some people just play real dirty!

To add up spice of work-bazaar closing duties, i go to the hospital. My uncle was sick,. I was crying for like two days. I haven't got a good sleep for 3 nights either. I was like a walking zombie at work,. will do my work, what's been told to do,. and that's it. Co-workers will come up to me and say my eyes are so swollen,. But praise God he recovered! I prayed hard for a miracle and He gave it! Still get teary eyed when I remember that. Two lessons I got from this, It is your family who will be there for you when things go soooo bad,. Not your so-called friends who's only there with you in times of socializing! Another thing, know the person really well, they may be good, jolly, bubbly on the facade, but evil lies beneath,.

So there,. I've got four more bag lemmings,. a longchamp, another lacoste (as usual i dont know the name), a neverfull and a hampstead. Not in a hurry to get all of them coz that will burn my wallet. but I know I'll get them...

Human Heart and nature is one of the most raved organic products in the forum that I was reading. And so I tried the coveted Shampoo and conditioner..

The Strenghtening Shampoo

CLAIM:

I love that it's organic, leaves hair squeaky clean, hard strands that's hard to comb. Conditioner is really a must!

The Nourishing Conditioner:

CLAIM:

Leaves hair soft and smooth. I love that my hair was less oily unlike with the commercial product. It leaves hair naturally bouncy, with less volume, hair is shiny and "bagsak."

Unfortunately this combo gives me the worst dandruff ever. I've finished the bottle hoping my scalp will get used to it, but it didn't. I had to let it go. I love my hair with this, but my scalp was hella itchy.

The Organic cleanser/Make up remover

CLAIM:

Beautiful skin starts with a BEE! Honey is an all-in-one skin saver - an excellent moisturizer, rich in anti-oxidants and Vit. C. This cream serves as double purpose: a moisturizer and a gentle make-up remover to keep your skin soft and clean without the irritation.

VERDICT:

The instruction says massage a button-sized amount for face and eye-area but I ended up using more. Can be tissued-off or rinse with water either it won't leave skin an oily film.

Unfortunately, again it doesn't do the job good in removing eye make-up and under eye concealer the way Nivea cleansing milk do. But i keep it on my dresser for weekend use, wherein i don't use make-up and I stayed too late in front of my PC that I don't wanna rinse my face anymore before heeding sleep.

It doesn't irritate skin at all. Overall the cocoa butter, beeswax , goat's milk powder, dark honey, bee propolis and vitamin E as its main ingredient makes it a cleanser that's jam-packed with anti-oxidant and will surely do good on your skin, unless of course if you have allergies with any of its ingredient.

Smells sublty sweet. Hair was indeed soft, shiny and bouncy. My hair has more life. It enhances the wave of my hair, it made it a bit curly. So gals out there who's hair is not rebonded and just rely on straightening shampoos and conditioner, this is not for you. On the other hand this is great if your hair is rebonded coz it will really nourish your locks, thus avoiding dull, luckluster and brittle hair. Also if your hair is naturally curly/wavy and you want to maintain it that way. this will make your curls fuller and bouncy.

As for me, I prefer my hair lately wavy, beach-hair kinda way, so I'm ok with this although at first (when I was obsessed with pin-straight hair) I freaked out.

The Nourishing Fuid (Day)

VERDICT

Unlike its night serum, the smell doesn't bother me. Like the conditioner, it is subtly sweet. At first I was so-so at this. Its like an additional step for me. But since I colored my hair lately, this made sense for me. As we all know chemically treated hair needs extra caring and intense conditioning to avoid frying dry your hair. So this leave-on will offer help.

Over-all the Royal Jelly Line is pretty impressive. It delivers its promise. No dandruff for me. And leave locks shiny and sweet, you might find yourself or your beau sniffing your hair more often.

Nivea DNAge Cell Renewal Anti-age Hand Care

Cold temperature in the office and frequent washing dries my hands so I tried this hand lotion thinking I'd put it in my bag since i wash my hand too when at mall or restaurant.

Verdict:

Leaves hand slightly oily, satiny feel. The consistency is runny that i dont have to squeeze the bottle, just tilt it and the lotion will come out.

See how runny it is? i just poured some on my hand and it run down my hand. So i thought i cannot put this in my bag, it might spill all over when the flip top cover accidentally snapped off. It ended up a lotion I put beside my bed since I moisturize my hand before going to sleep,. Moisture freak, but seriously I've a worst case of dry skin on body (but normal to oily on face). My skin itches when dry

As to efficacy, after religiously using it, the lines on my hand minimized, it is brighter and even toned. A good investment I'd say. But nothing dramatic change or spectacular at once effect, you will have to wait.

Will I repurchase? hhmm, You know I don't stick in one product otherwise I wouldn't have anything to review. But I can recommend it to you guys. For a price of P219.75 (when I bought this), it's cheap enough.

ZEN Greenteas & Olive Organic Body Scrub

I've been roadtesting several organic products now, from shampoos, soaps to lotions. ZEN is one of brandname I hoarded products from. BTW ZEN is different from Zen Zest.

Iluveet! I'ts a foaming scrub. To be used in liu of our bathsoap once or twice a week. No it doesn't bubble, its like washing your skin with cream cleanser. It uses apricot seeds and green tea leaves as exfoliant.

Smells so much like my Elizabeth Arden Green Tea perfume. Leaves skin invigorated, cleansed whithout the raw feeling unlike some other salt scrub I've used. Skin feels so pampered. I can actually use this everyday! **wish**.. Im addicted! Green tea + olive extract +EVO + Vit E combo, how can we not love it! Antioxidant and super skin moisturizer.

A must try, indeed!

Clinique Super City Block SPF40

I’ve tried VMV sunblock and I find it really good and effective but the kikay blogger me of course must venture to other products. So I checked Clinique and found this.

Verdict:

The boosted level of anti-oxidant takes this to the next level. I can use this even without moisturizer prior and my skin won’t get dry. Slips on skin easily and really gets easily absorbed. And finally, a sunblock that is safe for use around the eyes, so no need for separate sunblock for face and eye area. It looks like tinted moisturizer coz of the color but it leaves a sheer dewy feel. Plus it’s a good base for make-up, my make-up didn’t cake.

I didn’t develop millias or bumps, no sting or redness of course its Clinique one of the best hypo-allergenic product out there.

Priced at P1,450. If you have oily skin, this will serve as moisturizer and sunblock in one. This can replace my VMV(for face) and Shiseido (for eye area) tandem, it will save me money.

Spring Cleansing Purifying Wash

Consistency is similar to cetaphil but feels richer and thicker. It does leave skin hydrated and velvety soft. Hypoallergenic so you can never go wrong. Plus the Monolaurin will disinfect and kill acne causing bacteria. A good facial wash for me that is not as expensive as Clinique which offers same hypo-allergenic philosophy.

Clyndamycin Phosphate, Retinoic Acid Toner

Clyndamycin is antibiotic used to treat acne.

Retinoic Acid is a a derivative of Vitamin A that’s used as anti-acne and prevention of signs of photoageing

Together it is found to work faster and more effective. Although both compound causes photo sensitivity so a good sunblock is a must.

Overall my experience was good. Reasonably priced (I forgot though how much but definitely cheaper than Clinique, my other HG product). Heals breakouts and calms the skin from irritation and redness.

Loreal Elseve Re-Nutrition Night Serum

Out of curiosity I bought this. It is to be used at night before sleeping. Can be used on dry hair. Enriched with royal jelly so it nourishes hair with lipids, proteins, amino acids and vitamins.

Verdict:

It doesn't smell good, smells like rotten egg for me. But it makes hair velvety soft and shiny the next morning. I look at this as overnight hot-oil without the hassle of waiting for an hour prior rinsing.

Good for time constraint like me.

Nivea Smooth Body Oil

I love body oils, but this one is not working for me, aggregated by the weather, my skin got drier even if I apply oil generously. It absorbs in the skin though and doesn’t felt oily, but my skin got wrinkled coz of dehydration. In my frustration I added emu oil, jojoba oil, rosehip oil and Cleopatra oil (all from Storeeland.multiply) so it wont go straight to the trash bin.

I don’t see myself buying again. Again my skin condition is very dry (body) as in my skin gets flaky and white when I forgot to use lotion even just once!, So this may work on those with normal to dry skin.

Not a fan of this perfume before. When I smell this on others, it smells like grass for me. I guess it depends on each body chemistry coz when i wore it, i smell subtly sweet and fresh. I surprisingly liked it. Good as summer scent coz of its lightness and no-musky feel. Sadly it doesn't last long on me.

Re-usable bags (foldable bags)

I love these bags. I always have on on my bag for shopping use, or whenever I'm bringing extra things coz i don't like stuffing my shoulder/carry bags like they're gonna pop already. Also I do this to balance the weight on both shoulders. Putting it on one side only gives me the worst back/shoulder/nape pain.

I dunno but i dont wanna rebond my hair anymore, I did it 2 years ago and the ultra sleek look isn't just appealing to me. I dont like it also that I cant tuck my hair on my ear coz it will give a permanent wave on my hair nor can I put it up on pony or whatever coz it will create waves on my hair. I only want to tame the waves while maintaining volume. I also like my hair curly sometimes so rebond really cant be an option for me.

I dont like the idea also of stying in the saloon for 8 hours. I dont like waitting too long. In fact I only go to saloons for a hair cut that's it. I even find the blow drying process long. Sure Im kikay but I cant wait in vain, hehe..

I scouted for a hair Iron. I initialy wanted to get Remmington but decided to go for Vidal Sasson. Then I was torn between the ceramic and the tourmaline. I tested it on my hair the tourmaline on the right side of hair and the ceramic on the left. The result was handsdown tourmaline! It wasn't freezy, it was shiny, softer and it can give the ultra sleek rebond look when used on high setting (which i dont like but maybe appealing to most of girls). So I got myself the tourmaline.

As I mentioned on my perfume post, I’m out of stock of 2 my HG perfumes (namely Lancome Miracle and Burberry London),. So I got myself replenishment already. So there my Burberry London

Bath and Body Works Chocolate amber

It’s not full? Correct. The story behind is, I throw my pack lunch at my officemate’s trash bin. It kind of smell so I borrowed my officemate’s alcohol on atomizer so I can spray it and try to mask the smell. She instead gave me this, and I said “Ok ka lang?” (way of saying “are you sure?”).

She said “yes I don’t like the smell, I don’t like sweet scent I use it as insect repellant instead.” And I said “Nge, me I like sweet scent, aside of course with floral musk.” Then she said “ You can take it, its yours.”.

How can I refuse, Libre e! (It’s for free!). Hehe.. The perfume addict me was all smiles like a child given a candy,. And why not, the body splash smells like chocolate vanilla.

I seldom use body splash, coz the scent never really last on me. I only keep a bottle to refresh myself, say I went out of office at noon time, I walk under the sun, etc.. I’ve tried Victoria’s Secret and Avon, the smell doesn’t last, but it does its job, it refreshes my body. Surprisingly this one, the scent lasts on my shirt and skin. It serves as a perfume already. I see myself testing other variant to see if it’s the same with others. Coz the bottle is different, I don’t know if they have different versions. I can use this for weekends, When I’m just at home, or I need a quick trip to the mall

Bulgari Rose Essentielle

I always see this on magazine, with a slogan of “the scent of a Jeweller”.. I thought at first that, scent will be most likely be my French perfume; strong, heady floral musk. Got a chance to sniff it at the Bazaar in our office and I was thrilled. The scent was flowery musk top notes with sweet under note. Really elegant, sexy smell. I cannot help but put it on my top choice of perfumes. This will be a staple one on my cabinet from now on.

So what’s my top five scent now? (yes five, I cannot live with one scent only, I can actually list 10)

I think I have more than enough bags. I (hopefully) won’t buy anymore till next year. As BF says, branded bags are heavy duty, they’re not disposables. They last long that I grow tired of them sooner than they’re actually worn-out. Lately im lemming for Channels, LVs, Guccis,. so I need to stop and look at all these, I have a good collection already,.

Hooked on BOF!

MIA again haha!,. This time it’s a nice reason,. I saw my officemate watching Boys over flower on Youtube during lunch break. I said I have no interest on this one since I already saw Meteor Garden but I stayed and watch anyways. As we were watching I found myself curious with the plot, how they will tweak it from the other versions and how much cuter their guys are. They are cute in different ways, I cannot say who’s cuter – Jun pyo, Ji hoo, Yi Jeong or Woo Bin (i like this guy, hehe..). The story have more substance. I think Jan Di is cuter than Shan Cai too.

And there, I got hooked. I watched it on you tube at home for days. I just visit my blogg roll to read updates while youtube is downloading. And that’s it. I don’t even want to write for my blogg just yet. I finished the series. But I started on the part I saw my office mate was watching (they were hooked with each other already, that was the part where they shopped for an outfit going to the island). So Im gonna watch the beginning and hopefully stop in the part I already saw,.

Lancome Product Launching

Been so busy this past week (I cannot tell you yet the reason, but hopefully things will turn good).. I was freakin drained that I almost didn't made it to Lancome Genefique launching.. But glad that I did, coz it was one blast way to end a stressful week,. tehee..

When I arrived, Shen (of Shen's addiction) wasn't there yet, and I knew no one,. I saw Nikki (of Ashmewhats) but was really shy to approach her. And so the typical first-timer-silence-itch bit me.. The event started with a game,. ala Amazing race to Genefique,. Glad that i was grouped with Shen, Nikki and Hershey coz they were so competitive and I was really drowsy,. They were like running in the whole Greenbelt5 and I was brisk walking only (sorry girls.. I cannot run yet..)

Nweys, we ended up second place. The first placer gets a white hobo bag and a full size of Lancome Genifique (envy mode). We got the same hobo bag and got a full size perfume.

Verdict:

Another so-so cleanser for me. Smell reminds me of Ponds only it doesn't give me bumps, redness and pimps (still can't use Ponds, dunno why). Well I've been using it before (prior quiting pills) during the phase when my skin was on dry side so I didn't really appreciate it since this is for normal to combination skin (on the oily side), it leaves my skin feeling a little tight (but fragrant!). It does leave skin matte and squiky clean though.

And with those two ingredient with unknown beauty value I dont think I will purchase this cleaser unless someone will give me its beauty essence.

Neutrogena Alcohol-free toner

This is just so-so for me,. I didn't see any significant effect but at least it doesn't have adverse effect either. No bumps, redness or stinging. Good for normal to dry skin since it's alcohol-free, it wont dry your skin. Good for those on the budget.

The battle to hormonal bumps,. its frustrating sometimes that im so tempted to go back on hormone pills,. But i wont.. So I bought back-ups of those that's been doing wonders for my face and I intend to use them on whole body now.. My only consolation is that at least they grow on my back, not so much on my face (just a few blackheads,. ggrrr..)..

Cyleina Black pearl, Tomato, Straberry, Rosehip Oil

Tomato - Its good for drying pimples really,. and gives nice glow on face

Strawberry - for exfoliation and drying of bumps too..

Rosehip oil - this is really good not only on healing acne but making skin soft and firm. Even the facialist (the one who did my facial,. bummer, i dunno what to call 'em) said my skin is firm..

On new size, same grams it just come on square shape..

New one to try anti-acne soap,. contains salicylic acid and tea tree oil.

REQUEST: warming part of La mer

This is amongst the long overdue request,. an elaboration of warming part La mer..

This is what i needed for the whole face..

The traditional way of warming it, puting it on finger tips and sliding it up and down a bit, I try not to warm it on the whole finger since i feel like my fingers are absorbing the cream that Im left with little to put on my face..

This is what i got from the internet say my fingers are darn cold, I warm it the center of my palm and warm by making little circle, again so that the cream will not be spread on entire palm..

This is what I learned from the La mer discovery,. warm it on entire fingers its way faster but more cream is needed here since it is spread on the whole fingers..

It should look like this after (using the traditional way of warming)

Clarins: Pure Melt Cleansing Gel

VERDICT:

The gel melts into very thin oil, i mean its less greasy than DHC cleansing oil, it actually felt like the gel hasn't melt yet that I look into my hands if its in oil form already,. And since it's thin it doesn't run down unlike when Im using oil cleansers so it doesn't sting my eyes.

Smells really nice, I can't pretty tell what it is, but its like being in a spa, smell is not lavander or minty though, its rather lighter not musky and flowery.

I just notice that the gel sometimes melts slowly especially around the eye, it tends to clump and dissolves undereye conclear and eyeshadows rather slower than other oil cleanser I've tried, I ended up massaging my face longer, but the end result is still superior! I really like leaving it longer, i dunno but it felt like letting marula oil sink better and do its therapeutic benefits.

It washes off as milky emulsion just like other oil cleansers too. It delivers, true to its claim,. it does dissolves eyeshadows and mascaras and leaves skin soft.

Those with dry skin will benefit from this since it leaves skin hydrated and velvety-soft. Being OC, it feels a little oily for me (though its not ) so i still use soap after. Still my face doesn't feel tight but rather refreshed. Very spa like!

Its main component is Marula oil,. It's quite new to me so i reserched a bit and this is what I got:

Extracted from the kernels (nuts) of the Marula tree which is indigenous to Southern Africa. Marula oil has a clear, light yellow colour (Hence the color of the gel is light yellow) and a nutty aroma (oww, that’s the smell.. i didn’t got that!) .. It is traditionally used as a moisturizing body lotion for women and also as a massage oil for babies. In the past, women used Marula oil rather than water to clean themselves.

Marula oil has remarkable qualities. It is rich in antioxidants and oleic acid as well as the essential linoleic fatty acid, essential components for the maintenance of healthy skin. Marula oil contains a similar fatty acid composition to olive oil however it is 10 times more stable to oxidation. Marula oil has also shown to improve skin hydration, skin smoothness and reduce redness

With its combination of high nutritional value and excellent stability, marula oil is an ideal and innovative choice for modern cosmetic formulas and as a carrier oil for aromatherapy.

Here's the second installment from my treasure cabinet... my Perfume cabinet..

I've been into perfumes eversince I was grade 2.. While the little girls use Johnsons baby cologne, I was using Jovan,. When I went to highschool everyone was into Nenuco and Angel's Breath while me, I used Poison by Christian Dior,.

I've emptied bottles of perfume already but my fascination with collecting bottles (and scents)started in Year 2006. Here's what I've treasured so far,.

Here's what I use in the office.. (Yup, that's a second bottle of Mango adorable, Im inlove with this scent, this will always be a staple scent for me)

I’ve emptied some of them, I just put them at the table side coz I find it fascinating to look at and I sometimes sniff the scent from the spritzer . What’s left is a body mist from Avon (to freshen up), a little from The body shop Vanilla and a French perfume (at the back of Prescripto bottle) – this perfume is too strong and last really long so I just use a spritz of this and spread it all over.. I’m not even halfway from the bottom..

You might be wondering what's a prescripto bottle is doing here,. This was among the limited scent, its not 'a version of' or 'immitation' scent. This is amongst the original scent released back then and it was a good musky, flowery scent...

This one is a Liz Claiborne perfume given by BF (I forgot to include it in the photoshoot,. hehe..).. I use this at office since it is a musky, powdery scent too.. Sometimes I use it for overnights,. its a sexy scent..

UNBELIEVABLE BUT IT IS NON GREASY.
Can be used in anti stretch treatment for combination and normal skin types. Apply directly on the skin with light massage in circular motion until totally absorbed. Can be applied morning and night.
May also be formulated/added into body and skin care products, such as creams and lotions. Adding it to your fav skin care product 3-10percent is enough.

COMPOSITION

The unique properties of ROSEHIP OIL were discovered through scientific studies conducted at the Universities of Concepcion (Chile) and Missouri (USA). These studies showed that application of this oil effectively helped in attenuating scars, wrinkles and stretch marks; in preventing premature aging and in regaining skin’s natural color and tone. This offers great penetration and significant moisture retention. It is very effective in halting and even reversing the effects of sun radiation on the skin. Rose hip oil is very rich in vitamins especially vitamin A, which has been proven to have a very beneficial effect on skin, as well as a related substance, retinoic acid, which gives rose hip oil its remarkable skin repairing and rejuvenating properties.

Extensive studies have proven rose hip seed oil to have a positive effect on:
Aged skin (Fight the Effects of Photo-Aging) and wrinkles
Scars, Acne scar, sensitive & skin Stretch marks
Surgical and Traumatic Dermal Scars
Skin burns - when applied to burns it assists in reducing the formation of keloids and scar and returning the tissue to its normal and natural coloring.
Also used in hot oil treatment for brittle damaged hair

The natural composition of Rosehip Oil includes :
· Linoleic acid 44%
· Alfa Linolenic acid 36%
· Natural anti oxidants (tocopherols and carotenoids)

Jojoba Oil

It can spread well and can be absorbed well. It can be used as skin moisturizer, lip balm/moisturizer, shaving cream, hot oil treatment alone, or mixed with other product.

Dermatological tests shows that jojoba oil increases the skin’s suppleness by 45% and after 8 hours the effect was still present. It was also found that jojoba oil softens and smoothes the skin with fine line reduction. This is because jojoba oil controls transpiration water loss and helps to control flaking and dryness of the skin, thereby helping fight wrinkles.

What’s interesting about it is that it isn’t actually an oil, but rather what they call a wax ester. Of all the compounds in nature, this wax ester is the most similar to human skin oil (sebum). This provides all day moisture as it doesn’t evaporate like water based moisturizers. It is vry stable because it does not become rancid or lose antioxidants even after long periods of storage.

Overall although cleo and age-defying oil are scented, they didn’t irritate my skin ( I used them on face) , cause rashes nor made my skin itch. Rosehip oil is very effective in drying pimples. I cant choose which is better they all made my skin soft and radiant. It healed rashes and pimples. I find myself using rose oil and age-defying on face alternately while Cleopatra and jojoba oil on body.

Remember I posted that I’m battling hormonal pimples? These helped a lot. I experienced minimal breakouts on face (during those times when I was still sick and my boss forced me to report to work so when i got home i went straight to my room and fell asleep immediately and woke up the following day already) I wasn’t able to used it much on body though due to days when I was sick to bathe, was not feeling to vain recently coz I was on lazy mode or im still weak so I keep my bath routine really short, so yah hormonal pimps succeeded on giving me backne (geesh..)

I will definitely repurchase and use these potent oils as body oil and hopefully it will heal those nasty spots on my back,.

Saw this at newspaper and i immediately checked the mall for this promising cheap mineral make-up alternative,. Costs P150.00, comes in 4 colors (light pink to reddish pink). Now the ingredients,. I read it,. Yays,. Parabens,. For an MMU purist like some of us, reading this will shoo us enough,. Hmm,. I was tempted to buy,. almost.. but I didn’t,. geesh…

EDM Swirling Bowl

I bought swirling bowl from EDM before. When I got them I didn’t know what to do with the biggest bowl (2 cups measurement, I think). I don’t wanna use them for food either so I just kept them for awhile then I realized that I can use them to store my MMU baggies. I’ve transferred some to pots already but there are quite a many that’s left and I don’t wanna buy pots anymore.

So I just grouped them into four meshbags (from different MMU companies too)

La mer experience was so inspiring that I convinced myself to buy a facial buff like the ones we used there.

Its good for deep cleansing they say. So I tried this one from the body shop. I indeed felt the difference. It is squeaky clean yet refreshed. I don’t feel any soap residue (the hard and tight feeling) nor oily feel. I can use this once a week to properly exfoliate my face. What i love more is that i use lesser water with this since I just need to sweep the sponge on my face. I usually splash water many times on my face coz that way i feel I clean my face well.

I love that this is organic. Also it is textured yet so soft, perfect for removing (eye) make-up. It doesn’t break or loosen easily like the usual cotton pads I use. I got this for P300 for 2 rolls (100pcs each).

La Mer Discovery Experience

Before I got sick I got an invitation from La mer specialist Joanne from Rustans about La mer discovery experience (sorry I deleted the message so I forgot the title of the event). I immediately said yes for I know it will be a great entry for my blogg. It was held last May 23.

And yes I was right. I went with my bestfriend Jo anne (I’ll call her Best so as not to confused with La mer expert Joanne). It was held at East Café at Rustans. When we got there, a very chic table setting welcomed us. We felt a little awkward at first coz we thought the setting and participants were a little refined for us. But as the event progress we we’re having fun already (at least Best and I). We were asked to put on the head band coz we will be trying the whole La mer line ourselves. Right in front of us are silver basins with water and facial puffs for easier cleansing. We were advised that if we aren’t comfortable removing our make-up we can at least try it in our hands. And so Best and I agreed, we said that we don’t want to show our faces bare, hehe.. But we did otherwise coz we thought it will be so much fun!
We started with the make-up remover.

Love the texture, the oil is finer than DHC but not quite as thin as Clarins (I will review this sooner), just in between but is very fine for me. Rinses easily and doesn’t leave the skin greasy.

Next is the Facial wash there’s two variant of this the liquid soap and the milk variant which is tissue-off . We we’re asked to choose what to use, we chose the milk variant

We spread it on face then rinse using facial puffs.. this was luxurious I thought, this doesn’t sting my face at all. Skin isn’t tight and dry nor does it feel sticky or greasy.

Then the scrub which can be used as facial scrub or mask (left for 8 minutes)

Wow!,I so love this! just used this for minutes and my skin feels smooth and soft already. Just wash it thoroughly since tiny flecks (diamonds?!!) will be left on skin, I saw one on my face and I smiled (told Best, hey can I sell this?!!).. I loved it so much that I ask how much was this, and Joanne said its P4500,. I said wow, it not that expensive, I’m likely to get one myself soon (after finishing other scrubs I have though..)

Then the toner…

We pat it on our face using cotton pads (not rub or sweep). Feels good too, not stingy..

The Infusions. Again there’s two variant the moisture infusion and the radiant infusion

We chose the radiant infusion (one of those I’ve been eyeing so much). We pat it on our face

Then the lifting serum.. It was put on our palm than sweep it twice then spread on our face on outward motion. I keep on smelling the products everytime I’m applying it on my face. It was soothing and not strong.

The lifting concentrate were placed at deep lines for extra support, glad that we don’t need one yet.

Then the eye balm and eye concentrate

We chose eye concentrate (again I’m lusting this, haha!).. swept it using the silver-tipped wand. The wand was cool and soothing. I just wondered if the wand will still be cold if left on room temperature (no aircon on scorching summer heat).

Now the moisturizer, I already have the cream and tested the gel so I chose the oil-absorbing formula.
We we’re taught how to properly warm it in our fingers. I used to do it on finger tips only, but we were taught to warm it our entire fingers. Just put your finger on top of each other (criss-cross way) then rub in small circular manner until the cream turns white liquid. It was sure easier this way. Then we pat in on our entire face.

It was wrapped-up using the new SPF30!.. I only saw SPF18 before (on blanc dela mer). This is the broader spectrum variant. I thought, with everything I’ve put on my face it’ll feel heavy and dewy. But the SPF was so light. It is the by far the lightest SPF I’ve tried (at least compared to Nivea, Neutrogena, BB cream, Armada). And it felt like I didn’t put any on my face. It was just soft, velvety smooth and so radiant that I can be convinced not to put make-up on anymore.

Overall, my experience left me astound. La mer aint a luxury brand for nothing. It drawed me more to La mer and left me thinking that after I’ve consumed the beauty bottles I have, I’m gonna get myself some La mer stuff again.. It will definitely include the Radiant infusion, Refining facial, La mer Oil absorbing variant and the SPF too perhaps..

Even Best had a great day too and told me, if there’s any event like this again, she’d like to join me.

I wanted to post this short reflection early January but decided otherwise thinking that I want to confide my blog for beauty junkies only. It’s not even finished. But I realized that blog for me now is sort of a journal of my life and quests (for good make-up and beauty creams, LOL) , so I guess I need to expand the horizon and talk about my life a little.. Here’s the entry I made:

Last year I’ve been quite sickly and wasn’t happy with how my year ended.. I got a little depressed.. At night I will just lay on our roof deck and try to gaze at the stars. Thinking how things went wrong,. Would I resign from work or stay,. As I was reflecting on what my year has become, I was gazing at our lovely trees, I remember how little by little the flowers bloom,..

It was raining these past months so the flowers just rot and fell from branches. Almost none was left. The tree again started producing flowers but then these days the wind was blowing hard so they also fell.. Still the tree managed to produce more flowers that turned to tiny mango as days past,.
Sometimes these tiny fruits don’t stand a chance in battering wind and so they fell on ground too,. But there were those who stayed and managed to grow.
In weeks time they will be abundant, heading for ripening and will be eventually be harvested.

It made me think that life is in way similar with it,. Life is a survival. We strive in our life looking forward for the flowers to bloom in our life, for our life to be flowery, its not yet the reaping time but it makes you think that life is blissful and happy. But trials come and our hopes sometimes die down. We will start anew being positive that when I do things right and better this time, consequences will be rewarding. But trials will come, sometimes battering even harder than in the past. We will hold on, and try to withstand. It’s kind of depressing. Depressing because we try to focus on bad things, on the fallen flowers and fruit.

I tried to look further and saw the entirety of my life. My hopes didn’t die at all. Part of me was lost but im still whole. The entirety of my life is beautiful. I could still be a source of happiness for others. It made me realized that I needed to forgive. They were vexation in my life, but they polished me.. I withstand them, then I should be stronger now. Then I should be happy, I should remain positive…

So what made me decide to post that short reflection,. Im sick again, blah,.
The day before I was confined in the hospital, I had fever and was agonizing with stomach pain. My usually bratinella cat went to my room and laid on my stomach (note: she doesn’t sleep in my room).
Since I was in pain I slided her to my side coz her weight is pushing my stomach making it even more painful. She crept back and laid again making herself lighter (dunno how she did it) that I don’t feel pain anymore. Then we both fell asleep. I woke up and was about to go out of my room when she meowed at me and so I went back in to pat her neck. She laid beside me and when she closed her eyes I went to my parent’s room so I can watch TV. She followed me again and laid beside me. I kept hugging her every time I’m feeling pain. She would normally jump out of bed since she doesn’t want being hugged or squashed but she stayed. It made me think that our beloved pets do feel our pain. Coz sometimes if it’s my brothers or parents who Is sick our dog will also look sickly.
Anyweys, in the hospital I was given bottles and bottles of potassium in my dextrose (potassium is freakin’ painful when given through IV). I weren’t looking at myself at the mirror (duh, im too sick to be beauty conscious) so when I finally got back home I was expecting a haggard looking, deep set-ted eye and dark underyes. But when I sited myself in front of my dresser, I was amazed to see how glowing my skin was, it’s just I got thinner (lost 5 pounds) and I do look sick but my skin is in good shape, I didn’t even broke-out even if I haven’t washed my face for 4 days (yuck! Hehe.. )

So I guess the saying that banana is good for skin was right. Though it’s impossible to eat that huge amount of banana to get the equal amount of potassium I got then (and I think it’s only advisable to take litters of it if you’re like me who dropped the potassium level), it won’t hurt to couple our beauty regimen with banana in our diet. A nature’s way to good skin,. Heads up ladies,…

Koshize Pen Liner

I was practicing my black smoky eye-do lately and realized that I don’t wanna use a black pencil liner coz it smudges down my undereye. So when I saw this one from Sophie Paris, I immediately grabbed it since its cheap (P200++ I guess, totally forgot)

Verdict: I initially hurt my eyelids applying this, It was like using a ballpen on lids, pentelpen even feel softer. And worst its not water resistant at all... I didn’t cry, its just I’ve really watery eyes, but not enough to make my mineral eyeshadows smudge. I can even rub it off with by hand. I think I should use liquid liner next time

Artdeco Eyeshadow Base

I find it hard sometimes to make shadows appear vibrant, it even change color on lids and worst the color is washed out. I wanted to make my shadows appear on my lids and stay put throughout the day without the need to re-touch so I bought this ultra cheap shadow primer (Php495). I initially wanted a MAC but again I thought I’ve splurge enough on other things (I will reveal them soon) so might as well try if this and perhaps do some spend vs. save thingy.

Claim:

Verdict:
The color is a pearl beige, it looks shimmery on the pot but on lids I’ll say its matte but brightens the eye area.

Gently rub your finger on the primer coz it tends to clump and stick a huge amount on finger tips.

I find it hard at first to blend my shadow so I ended up patting the pigments. Then eventually I learned that I have to blend the primer really well on lids. Yay, that means for me tagging my skin more. Anyweys, it lives up to its promises. Color appeared as I want them to be – vibrant, same color as it was in the jar. Stays put the whole day. Eyeshadow smudges sometimes at the end of the day but I can do away with it. Texture wasn’t as smooth as MAC’s preptime (?) but it did the job anyweys..

And that Aromaleigh Mallow that's so freakin' hard to capture the color on cam indoors? It showed well for me in this pic...

I did all the picture taking (of both packages) and swatching when i got home straight from vacation. It was night already when i finished it. I really got tired and my hands are shaking already that's why some pics are a little blurry. But i tried my best to capture the color. Some pigments are hard to capture and swatches really light like mallow, zinnia and candytuft while some shows off really well. By the way, I didn't use any base for this.

That's it,. It was fun and made my bed cover really messy...

When i arrived at the post office the officer said that (again) I'm lucky coz the custom officer just went out, had he seen the declared value of the package I'd be taxed.. What's in my vanity cabinet - 1st Installment

I mentioned on my previous post that I will unveil what’s in my ‘treasure’ cabinet,. So here’s the first installment..

Presenting what’s inside my cabinet named Lotion..

Well not all really fit in here, that;s why I want a side rack.. So i wont be placing others beside my dresser..

Here’s the one I use in the office.. (it is evident now that I'm not good in keeping my things at the office organized)

Twice to thrice a week I sleep on my grandma’s house (coding days, or when my call time is early) so I stock up some there.. mostly with SPFs for protection since I will be commuting..

Now, had I proven myself to be lotion freak as I mentioned in my Honest Scrap?.... I layer them sometimes with my body oils. And yah, I get frantic whenever I finish up a blottle that I eventually buy a replacement (either same product or others to try) Other lotions I’ve tried before that are worth buying is St. Ives. There’s a lot of variant to choose from and I remember I’ve tried all of them before,..

Missha M Perfect Cover BB SPF42 PA+++

CLAIM:

Verdict: Shade is a little off. A little dark and beige-y that I need to tweak it with my MMU. But the finish is really nice, I’d say comparable to Lauress Ethereal, but more dewy. It leaves the skin soft and smooth looking. Skin really radiates and looks healthy. You have to blend well and wait for it to warm up on skin to see its fantastic finish. Except for the shade, the finish was excellent, I almost loved it, I was about to ditch my MMUs for this.

But it’s not working for me. It gives me bumps and whiteheads. Gives me little itch when using this. I’ve read some feedbacks that manifest same reaction. They stopped until their face cleared and tried using it again until their skin get accustomed with it. So I’m not giving up yet on this.

For the mean time im using it on eye area, we don’t get bumps and whiteheads on eyearea don’t we?.. I really find this a good base for my concealer since it makes eyearea soft, refreshed and hydrated. My eyearea doesn’t look haggard when tired due to much pc exposure. Concealer blends well, as if its really natural. And since Missha is tinted already, its easier to conceal dark circles but again shade needed to be tweaked. I stopped using shiseido for the mean time (I intend to save this for outing and swimming days). I really love this for eye area, with all the promise of anti-aging anti-wrinkle coupled by some testimonies of lightening dark circles, it’s really something to look forward to.

I’m also using this on neck area so I can skimp my sunblock and so I won’t waste money by just ditching this. Again I don’t think I’ll get acne on neck area. I’ll give it a fair months of observation before I give my rating and final review.

I stopped my hormone pills last month coz I think I’ve been on it too long,. Been on it for six years,. I stopped popping pills on my third year before but I was plagued with acne like I never had before, as in it grew on my back, chest and scalp.

Sure thing I suffered from acne when I was younger, but it was contained on my face area only.
So I went back on pills since I still have PCOS, and in 3-months time my skin got cleared!. Three years now, I want to stop again,. I don’t wanna be sterile, so I think its about time to stop it.

So to arm me from the battle, I’m sticking (hopefully) to my tried and tested anti-acne and acne-healing regimen (OMG, it scares the hell out of me to see myself battling on acnes again..). It’s been a month now and I have a pimple on my right cheek, left upper lip and right eyebrow (they came out fast, huh)

1. Remove make-up either with Nivea sensitive balance, VCO or DHC cleansing oil,. These all works well for me

2. Cleanse with Cyleina products
I intend to use black pearl soap on my face for AM use, while the tomato for PM use
On body to prevent backne I will use rice-bran and glutamax to counter act dryness.

3. Tone with Nuetrogena Alcohol-free toner (wil review soon too)

4. Moisturize with Cyleina organic oils.
I read carefully the ingredients and functions of each of this and I decided to use Emu oil and rosehip oil or grapeseed oil for face at night (I will TRY to stop La mer for the meantime), anti-aging oil and cleopatra oil alternately on body (I will give detailed product info on each of them soon).

5. Stick with my tried and tested Mineral Make-up.. No testing testing for now, whether tranditional make-up or other new MMU (coz I got bumps with Earthen glow … )

6. Stick with VMV ARMADA for sun protection,.. I cannot afford to venture on BB creams and other SPFs now,..

7. Pop on Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA)

I was advised to take metformin 2x a day for one month, but when I took this before it triggers my ulcer, my skin and hair got terribly dry and it augmented my hair fall. I’ve read that one supplement that can be taken for PCOS is ALA coz it act like metformin by reducing oxidative stress (an excess of free radicals and lack of antioxidants) and improve insulin sensitivity in PCOS (which made ALA a good alternative too for metformin users to address diabetes)

Review: Blusche Duo-fiber Stippling Brush

Finally i've tested my Blusche stippling brush.. So lemme compare it first with Suesh..

Strands are longer than my Suesh (which I call MAC Dupe, since they really look alike),

Circumference is bigger too. It's more fluffy and flexible.

The handle is smaller and lighter.

Blusche can be use to apply primer, foundie, finpow, and AOFC but NOT blush, while the Suesh can be an all-around brush, from primer to blush.

I’ve read that other gals didn’t like it since they find the bristles not sturdy enough and that it is way flexible that they cannot get a good grip or cannot maneuver the brush properly. But I liked it. Its faster and easier to apply foundie and finpow since the circumference is bigger so it covers more at less time (READ: I do my everyday office make-up in 5mins. flat, adlt 5 mins. If I want a colorful eye-do). Also the handle is lighter, my wrist get strains with suesh coz the handle is heavier compared to all my brushes and that i buff more with this.

So which do I prefer? I think I’ll go for Blusche since Suesh make my wrist aches. Plus its way cheaper.. I got Suesh for P900 while I got Blusche for P300 pre-buy rate, regular price is P425, still cheaper isn’t it..

I haven’t used the Suesh for applying blush or radiance yet since I find it still big for cheek use. I fear I could easily look like a clown using that. But I'll try it one day,..

Revisiting Emu Oil (EO)

My first venture with emu oil was with Lumiere.

Lumiere EO smells a little like chicken oil but once you get used it, it’ll be tolerable. I mixed it with a bit of water to spread it on face easier. I used this as night moisturizer before, I only stopped it when I purchased La mer.

Then I tested Cyleina EO

Far better in terms of smell. It doesn’t smell like chicken at all. It sinks better to skin too its less greasy. Consistency is less thicker than Lumiere’s. Same as with Lumiere’s I didn’t experience any bumps or any reaction. As to efficacy I see no difference they both deliver their promises. Another plus factor is that its available locally.

The difference is that I tend to use lesser with Lumiere due of its creamier consistency that I tend to dilute it water. With Lumeire I have the tendency to wake up with oily face but with Cyleina I wake up with radiant skin,.. Cyleina won my heart over Lumiere.

I will be purchasing again and again since I’ve many uses of this,. I apply it on insect bites, on muscle sore and on my allergies.. as for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, I dunno yet,. Perhaps I need to use it again to see its effect

Nivea Sensitive Balance Cleansing MIlk

I doubted this at first, or perhaps Im so into DHC cleansing oil then. I was at first using too much of this aiming to finish the product sooner since I wasn’t impressed. Why? After massaging this to my face, I need to remove the milk cream with a tissue then use a separate cleanser unlike DHC that is self serving. This really is a good make-up remover though, I see make-up traces on used tissue. I experimented if I can use this like ponds cold cream which you can leave on face after tissue-ing-off. It doesn’t sting while massaging it but after awhile I get the sensation, after removing it the mild sting is still on so I guess I really need to wash it off.

Claim:

I can use this cleansing milk but that is if I didn’t used make-up, say, the morning I wake up. This way it leaves skin with a bit of sticky feel, not really oily rather hydrated that for those with oily skin can skip the moisturizer part. Doesn’t have any scent and didn’t give me bumps whatsoever so this can pass on hypoallergenic test IMO.

Now past half the bottle, I find myself reaching for this more than DHC cleansing oil. I feel it does soothe skin sensitivities coz I easily get rashes due to heat, dust, smoke pollution, and some brand of MMU. But this cleanser sooths my skin by hastening the recovery. Rashes still surface my skin but not as severe as before and it does heal faster now. I’ll try to stick on this for the mean time since think this will help prevent breakout as I stop my hormone pills.

I see myself buying this wonderful product again.

Nivea Sun Immediate Protection

When I saw the commercial for this, I was thrilled coz I usually go out for lunch or field work/meetings. I wanted a sunblock that I wont have to wait long for it to settle since those are on-the-spot lunch-out.

Claim:

It took me awhile to decide whether to get the SPF 30 of SPF 50 and which variant. There’s two variant too, the white one has got some whitening ingredient while this blue one doesn’t whiten. The breaking point? First, blue or white, I chose the blue one sine I’ve read that SPFs on whitening product is either not that potent or isn’t stable. Second the size, SPF50 doesn't come in small sizes and big size costs around P600 while the small one is around P300 (my thrift mode went on..) I just justified it by thinking that SPF50 might be too sticky for me already and I don’t want that sticky as-if-im-going-to-a-swimming feel.

So I roadtested it. I went on a client and spread the SPF on arms and legs. The scent was heavy for me, it’s the typical Nivea sunblock lotion for swimming scent. It’s a little greasy for me but tolerable. But the nice thing is even if the scent is strong I didn’t have allergic reaction to it which usually happens when I wore heavily scented lotions then I touch my face,. There instant red, itchy marks..

After awhile I felt my skin to be tightening, it signals me that my skin was dried out. My skin is greasy yet wrinkled,. Weird eigh? Perhaps that’s what differentiates the whitening lotion with high SPFs from real water resistant sunblocks, even if it says its got collagen for protection from wrinkling. I find it necessary to still moisturize and that I cannot rely on Nivea Sun alone to hydrate my skin. Five hours later I can still smell its scent on my skin. I thought its great coz its still there working. I didn’t sweat though so perhaps the lotion stay put and that it will not be simply rubbed out on car seats or clothing.

Rate: 4/5 I think it delivers when It comes to sun protection, it just fell short on anti-wrinkling as it claims.

Will I buy again: Yes, good for on-the-spot day activity..

Blistex Lippies

My body shop lipbalm is running out (as if I haven’t consumed the others yet) I went panic buying for lipbalm. I initially want to buy Venus and mars Lip detox but haven’t figured out yet what soaps to buy so it wont be a waste to pay shipping charges just for kipbalm,.. Anyweys, I’m replenishing my toiletries and these lippies got my attention.

Blistex Lip Infusion Moisture Splash

Comes in liquid form Have a silver roller tip for application. I tried to dot it on my lips but my lips thirsted for more moisture, I applied generously and it left a shiny bit oily but not heavy feel. I see this is good as lipgloss as well. Good for me since I’m not a fan of matte lipsticks. Its got the basic SPF15 so kudos for that.

Blistex Ultra protection SPF30

I bought this one coz I was so into summer that I think if Im putting higher SPFs on my face and body, I might as well put some on my lips too.. And so what attracted me to this is the SPF30 (Only to find out that Hawaiian tropics and Nivea offers SPF45 to 50.. geez). Nweys, this fell short on moisturizing part too,. Leaves a “matte” finish but velvety feel. This will be good for swimming days wherein you don’t want an oily gloss for your lips coz it will just smear. Or under a matte lipstick, well to keep it matte, or again under a lipgloss so your lips will not be overly greasy. Saying all that I guess It’s a good investment after all.

Will I but again of any of these two? Hmm, still thinking. I wanna try V&M next and kiehls. Burts bee too perhaps..

Vaseline healthy Sunblock (SPF30)

Claims:

Amongst SPF lotions I’ve tried this so far is the lightest. Leaves just a little stickiness that’s easily absorbed by the skin. Skin feels soft also after using it considering that I didn’t layer it with other lotion so as to test its moisturizing power. Other SPF lotion makes my skin dry and feels tight but this one just leaves a good feeling Give a bit of a white cast but eventually fades and blends to skin. This is good for everyday use for me.

Smashbox lipgloss

I’m currently loving this lipgloss. Gives a rosy hint on lips. It’s color is neutral and is good paired with smocky eyes or no make-up look. Shiny/water-like finish without making lips sticky or feeling heavy . Plus it's got good moisturizing factor. Lips stay hydrated and soft unlike other lipgloss I've tried wherein after the product faded, my lips are dry.

Skinfood Cappuccino Mousse foam

At first I was hesitant to try this coz Im not a a fan of coffee.. I don’t drink coffee or eat anything that’s coffee flavored. But it’s freebie anyweys.

So when I squeezed out some to my palm it more smelled like mocha frap.. I enjoyed its creamy smell. Upon lathering it to my face I can feel the big coffee beans (or should I say husk) rubbing onto my skin but its not abrasive, I don’t think it is exfoliating since the beads were a little big and it wasn’t a fair amount to exfoliate. It didn’t give me bumps or red allergy spots like Ponds cleanser do.. I see this as an ordinary cleanser. After rinsing my face didn’t felt tight. Over all I enjoyed the creamy smell and creamy lather,. Really looks and smell like frap..

Organizing my stuff

I want everything within my reach. That includes tissue, cotton, Qtips, wetwipes etc. I keep them in this dresser.

I also use this cute case for storing my my hair bands, medicines and lippies I mostly use. It ‘s kinda small though, long lipsticks doesn’t fit well, I need to place them in slanting position so space is wasted, only 2 will fit. Big round lipgloss pot stores in a row while the small ones fit by putting it sideways to maximize space. But nevertheless, its cute and organized. Fits the side part of my dresser

Perfume, lotions and toiletries each have their own cabinet too. Soon I’ll open them for you..

The body shop cocoa lip butter

While enduring my chapped lips, I researched and got across some writings that lip products with petroleum will only worsen chapped lip. I looked at my 10 (yes ten) lipbalms majority of which have petroleum as ingredient. And so I went for my TBS cocoa lip butter

Ingredients: Hydrogenated coconut oil, beeswax, Olive oil, Candelila wax,Cocoa Butter, sweet almond oil, tocopherol acetate, propelene glycol, water, Matricaria extract, ammonium glycyrrhizate, calendula officinalis extract, tocopherol.

Verdict: I’d been using this even before had chapped lips. The finish is satiny soft, not oily. Good base for lipsticks. It did heal my chapped lips. Aid the tightness and dryness. In weeks time my lips were back to normal. Effective and really conditions my lips. It claims to restore elasticity iof skin, and I agree to it, a week of religiously using it made my lips baby soft, plumped, not wrinkled and reddish again. Good lipbalm for me

My Blusche brushes arrived!

I joined the pre-buy of Blusche brushes and was expecting to get it around April, but to my surprise I received the package yesterday (March 20). Perhaps bcoz I paid In full as oppose to 50% DP. So I didn’t have to go thru notice of settling the balance-depositing-informing Blusche deposit is made-Blusche confirming payment received cycle…

Another surprising thing is that, it is a local purchase so i was expecting it to be on courier's plastics, but it came in bubble wrap padded envelope like the ones we get from international MMU companies.. pretty neat.. Brightens my boring Friday!.. review to follow…

Shiseido Sun Protection Eye Cream

The quest for sunscreen continues, it's summer anyways,. I cannot put VMV on eye area coz it simply dries it and makes lines pretty obvious.

Verdict:

I put this on top of EL ANR. First application I followed the recommended dosage, and RANT!!! How am I suppose to make my eye area absorb this huge amount of cream,. Darn, I ended up putting using it in my nose area and cheeks,. It was way too plentiful for a small part,. I ended up wasting it and RANT, it doesn’t come cheap, its shiseido for goodness sake,..

NWEYS, It does moisturizes eye area really well, the quest for good eye moisturizer is over!!! So im sure it will live up to its promises of preventing lines (dryness is one culprit of ageing). Plus the fact that its protecting my eye area from UV rays. I was loving it coz it doesn’t make my undereye concelear crease,. It leave a shiny finish without being sticky which I like for no make-up look. It felt lightweight which is good for this scorching hot summer. I didn’t developed milia either. As for minimizing the existing lines, i cannot judge yet coz i've been using it for a month only and not on regular basis coz i tried BB cream this past weeks (review to follow).

Simply addicting, I’d say,. I wish I’ve discovered this earlier so I would have prevented fine lines from apprearing on my eye area,..

VERDICT:

It comes with its own round tip dipper very nice of it coz I think putting it in pump will not let you control the amount it will dispense hence the waste of product. Comes in a jar that’s too cute to look at…

Upon application eye area feels velvety smooth. it doesn’t feel sticky. My tired looking eye area seems hydrated and refreshed. With months of usage dark undereye was minimized, its not totally gone but it lightened significantly. It made my hollowed eye plumped. A little is needed when applying otherwise I get puffy eyes (or eyebags).

It lacks moisture for me though. My concealer and tends to cake but is a very good base for eyeshadow since it leaves velvety smooth feeling. Too early to judge on its anti-wrinkle property but I’ve seen changes but it stopped, not that its not that potent but rather due to my continuous medication for allergy (I’m on zryrtec now and steroid which drastically dries out skin, hair.. ) Good start though, Looks promising. I will continue to observe and see if im purchasing another.. that is if will not be tempted with shishiedo bioperformance or La mer eye concentrate..
